Day 30: Socialites do it too!

On July 20, 2014, a Benin-based socialite, Mrs. Eunice John Ayegidi, was sentenced to 10 years for trafficking of girls for prostitution.

The Main Points:

1. The arrest occurred in Ghana in 2012.  
2. Mrs. Ayegidi was prosecuted by Benin Zonal Command of the National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP).
3. Some of the girls trafficked by Mrs. Ayegidi were Nigerian.
4. The judge has made an example out of Mrs. Ayegidi to deter traffickers from trafficking humans in and/or out of Ghana in the future.
